Looking at different news reports, the matter of being dumped doesn't seem so relevant (do people believe this guy had a girlfriend who was anything other than imaginary?). What seemed to be the main factors in this were.

1. He was crazy.
2. He was able to buy many guns and lots of ammo.
3. Despite being crazy.

In the UK you get reports of somebody who was nuts but wasn't locked away, going on a violent spree in which their able to get hold of a knife, they kill some old man with it and stab some random girl in the arm before other passers by wade in and kick the **** out of the guy. This is a lot more difficult when you're dealing with guns.

The whole "right to bear arms" as a form of self-defense is stupid, because that assumes that you are going to carry the gun with you at all times and more importantly it assumes that if somebody else comes at you with a gun that your own gun will somehow help you to dodge their bullet. Guns are generally are much more useful for killing people than they are for defending yourself from being killed.

If people were really just interested in protecting themselves, how come you don't see more people wearing helmets and chainmail and carrying shields around? Those things can defend you from bullets. Guns can't.

To be fair it wasn't like the guy had any record of being crazy other then his disturbing, violent and nightmarish plays and writing. Its not like he had on his record that he was psychotic or anything, they don't just sell guns to anyone. People that saw how he acted and wrote weren't surprised but total strangers who knew nothing about him? They had no way of knowing how he was.

And yeah the right to bear arms rule is completely stupid as is how flippantly guns are sold. They're a terrible form of protection and hopefully this causes some shit to change.

Also i'd like to see something about him being dumped other then what that idiot O'Reilly says. Because i've read four news storys on it and i've seen no mention of a girlfriend. I've seen plenty suggestion no one would go out with him and it said in two he was a loner. He wouldn't be considered one if he had had a girlfriend.

I agree. I think he might O'Reilly might have got some wires crossed with that info because I read that the police had been interviewing the boyfriend of the girl who was shot in the dorms because he had a bunch of guns too. From what I can telll they originally thought he'd shot her and one other guy, and were talking to him when the others started being shot in the Engineering building.

You're right that he didn't have any official record of being crazy and the people who sold him the guns and ammo are no more at fault for selling him these items than they are for selling the same to all of their customers before and since. But he clearly was crazy, as was demonstrated by his actions, so I stick to my complaint that crazy people can buy guns. The solution that I propose is that nobody is allowed to buy guns and ammo. This will mean that crazy people can't buy guns or ammo.

I totally agree with that. Some people argued that the obtaining of a gun would be far more popular because they are hard to get. But this will only count for a small group of people. And if it is harder to get a gun, this might slow down impulse killing, making the killer change his/her mind, and not do it.

"She grabs a chainsaw and brandishes it at Richard."

What I want to know is how, writing twaddle like that, he even made it to the final year of college?

Or was that fake, because it was really pretty damn **** and he was meant to be an English major, right?

Wow.

Just wow.

God, I hope that was a fake.
Whoever wrote that is too stupid to consider mass murder.

Seriously. That was shit.

As early as 2005, police and school administrators were wrestling with what to do with Cho, who was accused of stalking two female students and was sent to a mental health facility after police obtained a temporary detention order.

The two women complained to campus police that Cho was contacting them with “annoying” telephone calls and e-mail messages in November and December 2005, campus Police Chief Wendell Flinchum said.

Cho was referred to the university’s disciplinary system, but Flinchum said the woman declined to press charges, and the case apparently never reached a hearing.

However, after the second incident, the department received a call from an acquaintance of Cho’s, who was concerned that he might be suicidal, Flinchum said. Police obtained a temporary detention order from a local magistrate, and in December of that year, Cho was voluntarily but briefly admitted to Carilion St. Albans Behavioral Health Center in Radford, NBC News’ Jim Popkin reported.

To issue a detention order under Virginia law, a magistrate must find both that the subject is “mentally ill and in need of hospitalization or treatment” and that the subject is “an imminent danger to himself or others, or is so seriously mentally ill as to be substantially unable to care for himself.”

That sort of shit should really go on some sort of a record.
