check on "my computer" and see if it reads there, if it does re-install itunes or something.
but if your computer doesn't read it at all, make sure the cable is plugged in good in both ur ipod and comp. Try restarting your computer too. If neither of those work...sux 2 b u |

Lol...I got it sorted, apparently ipod doesn't much like USB hubs, and I'm using one because I've only got 2 USB slots and they were both taken....it took a bit of rearranging but I got it to work.
Ipods are the shit...I love the sound quality...plus, no more scratched CDs that skip every two seconds..

Here's a tip: don't drain your battery completely before charging it. As in, you shouldn't be charging it when it's dead - charge when there's still something left. (I'm not saying you, specifically) Your iPod battery only has a certain number (a couple hundred) of complete charges (draining it and recharging) so be proactive!
If you notice your iPod isn't holding close to an 8 hour charge, and you still have your warranty, send it in. Oh, and don't use the backlight a lot. |

Actually it's the other way around , if you keep topping it up all the time the battery runs out much quicker.

^ True piece of advice/knowledge. Same goes for cellphones, you gotta let them run right down to keep the battery in good condition.
I was really sceptical about iPod's when I first bought mine, heard things about crap battery and screens breaking with the slightest touch and the scroller thingy not working. I've had mine for 3 or 4 years now, I think it's the exact same version as your's Anastasia, 20gigs and black and white. I use the backlight constantly, I've got it set to 2 seconds, still works fine. I can't tell if the battery is good or not, sometimes a charge will last me about a week of use and other times its only two days. I'm just waiting for it to crap out though, and when it does I'm booking a cry into my schedule for said day. Only ever had one problem, I ran it dead one day and I stuck it on the charger and nothing happened. It took two days for it to begin charging again.
