I know this is a pretty obvious reactionary observation but my brain honestly can't piece together how the f*cking US Supreme Court's whole point was that this isn't something that the country should be deciding but rather states rights.
Having one level of government decide over another level of government is the focus...but the decision of the actual female human being is just left out of the equation? It's baffling when you think about it. It's like both parents aruing over what to do for your birthday without consulting you. Rudimentary comparison but it's what I came up with on the spot just now. |

And if the Dems ignore the court over abortion just imagine what court rulings the fascists will start ignoring. Might be just the thing to pop off a new civil war. Quote:

Conservatives all over the world are happy as little piglets over this but they don't realize this only happened because of a very specific set of circumstances and is a battle won in a war they will definitely lose.

Yeah, I do see both sides seeing the SC as irrelevant. Even with this court the far right isn't getting everything they want such as the coronation of Trump. Glad I lived most of my life already. God help the USA (and maybe the world) in the future |

You think this combined with the Jan 6th hearings will sway swing voters blue next election? Obviuously there are a lot of crazy conservatives who are happy, but what about the millions of moderates who are pissed?

Not my country, so not really my place to say, but I've noticed something disappointing going on with US elections: plenty of moderates get angry with the government, but then stay at home on polling day, leaving the field open for more motivated minority voices to score big, by which I mean Trumpists, evangelicals, etc. How else explain the fact that a blue gun-control tsunami has never materialized to sweep away the NRA-funded Republicans? Some observers have been waiting for that since Sandy Hook, so I'm sorry to say that today's Pro-Choice tsunami might be the same, washing up as a barely noticible dribble on polling day- like one of those waves on a flat beach that don't even get your shoes wet. "But if I'm wrong you can just say it's the first time I was happy to be confused."

I wouldn't count on it. You're not wrong, Lisna. We Americans are a pretty apathetic bunch. |

That's getting truer and truer right across the developed countries I think. From working from home to online shopping: if I can't do it with a click from my computer, forget it !
