You don't need three fourths of the states, just Congress. And he and Dem leadership aren't willing to do it regardless. The oldest Justice is only 74 and with our luck he'll live to a hundred on pure spite. Considering what they've done in a year and a half I don't know that waiting patiently for our turn is a viable option.

Good luck to my comrades in the shadows.

I wonder if states where abortion remains legal could provide some incentive or discount for out of staters who need abortions? Economic abortion tourism?

You'd need a Pro-Choice Amendment. Otherwise this Supreme Court would just find a way to shoot it down.

What really worries me is something Andrew Jackson did when the Supreme Court supported Cherokee Indian sovereignty and Jackson said to let them enforce it. Perhaps this is the beginning where everyone (left and right) starts ignoring the Supreme Court and the court ends up becoming irrelevant.

From commentators I've been watching, I think these state abortion bans will definitely have an effect: first with how insurance companies punish and encourage medical practice with their varying charges and rates to doctors, then with doctors themselves who don't want to get into legal trouble. One tv person said that nurses, etc will also be scared into following the law in their state.

Perhaps it's scaremongering on my part, but I was struck by something Biden said yesterday: that he would defend women's rights to travel out-of-state to get treatment if necessary. Is that a pre-emptive pushback against a scenario in which states prosecute women for getting an out-of-town abortion?! After Texas tried to chuck out the election results of Michigan*, it seems like the unimaginable has now become plausible.

* grudging approval for the Supreme Court, who at least threw out this idea.

Making things worse is that the Supreme Court justices have a job for life and no-one to police their ethics except themselves. That's a recipe for abusing their position, and that's why Justice Ginnie, sorry Clarence, Thomas is now saying with impunity:

Quote:
Thomas wrote that the following rulings “were demonstrably erroneous decisions”:
+ Griswold vs. Connecticut, in which the Supreme Court said married couples have the right to obtain contraceptives
+ Lawerence v. Texas, which established the right to engage in private sexual acts
+ Obergefell v. Hodges, which said there is a right to same-sex marriage.
With no accountability, Thomas got away with failing to recuse himself, and Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh have gotten away with perjury during their selection hearings, but hey, they won the big prize: a Job for Life

Making gay sex illegal will only make it hotter.

If I told you what I think the only solution is I'm afraid I'd get banned again and possibly added to a watchlist.

I forget who brought it up recently, it might've been in this thread - but the ideals and values of people in this country are so disparate, the idea of having two separate Americas becomes an attractive prospect.

I doubt it would ever happen. But it just doesn't make sense that we have the technology and means to do this stuff, and do it safely, and yet you can't because some schlub in a suit with more power than you decrees that you can't do it because it doesn't align with the values of his voter base - just ridiculous.
