I don't remember saying that DRMO, but how can you lie all the time and be true to yourself. At the very center of every person in his/her most natural state, is their soul, and their soul or spirit is all about truth. If you ever tell a lie, like telling someone they look good today, when you think they look terrible, you're lying, and compromising yourself to some degree. It was your decision to tell the lie. You can say, 'well I didn't want to hurt their feelings,' but you may have underestimating their ability to take criticism. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

DontRunMeOver 03-15-2007 04:24 PM

A huge amount of actions are learned, not instinctive. Pretty much the only external movements that we have which we don't have to learn to some extent are how to breath, how to blink, how to suck a teat (oooh yeah!) and how to make grumpy noises when we're hungry.

Telling someone they look good when they look bad...is a matter of opinion..because they might not look bad to the rest of the world..just to you..so its your opinion of them...

Point taken. And learned.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-15-2007 04:26 PM

There is a difference between pretending to be someone else and curbing your behavior to fit in with what society would consider at least "okay".

What you are basically saying is, if some guy masterbated on a bus all day and did nothing else, no one should get mad at him because he's being real to himself. So whenever you get the urge to masterbate, if you don't whip it out and start doing it wherever you are, you are being fake, because you are going against your own feelings. Same with sex.

TheUsedToolguy 03-15-2007 04:26 PM

In the example I clearly stated that sometimes people will tell someone they look good, even though, in the stater's mind they don't look good. Maybe no one is fake out where you live, if you don't agree with that.

I am not saying that there is no such thing as "fake"..there obviously is..fake flowers, fake food, fake wood..etc...

People define things based what they know...that makes definition different from person to person.

TheUsedToolguy 03-15-2007 04:39 PM

Are you saying you don't believe people lie in their daily situations, and anything that could be perceived as a lie is merely a difference of opinion from one person to the next?

TheUsedToolguy 03-15-2007 07:40 PM

Yeah!! Duke lost!! I mean...
Duke, congratulations on a commendable, albeit very short-lived season.:drummer:

Laces Out Dan! 03-15-2007 07:47 PM

Duke is past their era. Their Era was with Reddick.
And Ohio State is one step closer to winning. Greg Oden<3

TheUsedToolguy 03-15-2007 07:53 PM

I'm rooting for them or TX, or UNC
The only other team I really want to see lose is UF

Laces Out Dan! 03-15-2007 07:54 PM

Im going for Ohio State and Kansas

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-15-2007 09:12 PM

VCU is in the ghetto. And Duke is a buncha white boys.

TheUsedToolguy 03-15-2007 09:25 PM

I wasn't going to throw out that stereotype, but yeah, you'd think Duke would be able to recruit a little better. It's like they're trying to get the next Re****, or Wojiechowski, or f*cking whatever.

PaperHurricanesAndPlanes 03-15-2007 09:51 PM

Do you even like me?! Also, Ben is the man.

TheUsedToolguy 03-15-2007 10:02 PM

Heck yes I like you, due to your ever controversial and thought-provokingly challenging ways, you're one of the most likable people on this site.

Laces Out Dan! 03-15-2007 10:11 PM

I would like to take ths time to appreciate the greatest band from the 70s era...Rush. Neil, Geddy, Alex ..i love you all.

Ensemble 03-15-2007 10:13 PM

Led Zeppelin was. I love everyone also.

I would say Led Zeppelin, & Pink Floyd, then possibly Rush. What's crazy is that they're all better than any band that came out in the 80's, IMO.

Please do comment, I'm interested to hear the opinion of a person who thinks people don't lie, it's interesting to see things from different perspectives.

NaNaNer 03-16-2007 10:23 AM

I dont believe people dont lie...

Thats why I am not commenting..it irrelevant..and wont be understood.

TheUsedToolguy 03-16-2007 10:38 AM

How do you know it won't be understood?

NaNaNer 03-16-2007 10:42 AM

Cause it hasnt so far..so why waste anymore time on it?

[MERIT] 03-16-2007 10:43 AM

TUTG, you're cool. You're honest and not afraid to stand up for your opinions:beer: In general, people on here tend to be afraid of contrasting opinions (a.k.a. common sense), so they ignorantly lash out. Just pay no attention to it. Eventually they'll get tired of being stupid and move on.

the "common sense" part was kind of a shot, the rest is self explanatory.

NaNaNer 03-16-2007 03:15 PM

I wasnt taking a stab at "the rest" of the statement I was simply asking how you relate how contrasting opinions and common sense are "aka's"

jibber 03-16-2007 07:29 PM

he's saying anyone who doesn't agree with him doesn't have common sense. Pretty much a shot at everyone who disagreed with him in a previous thread for using religious dogma as reason for homosexuality to be disgusting, immoral, and wrong.

CLEARLY being open to and accepting of other people's lifestyle choices is akin to ignoring common sense.

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-16-2007 07:33 PM

Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't this supposed to be the nice thread ?

riseagainstrocks 03-16-2007 07:34 PM

hmm, another nice statement.

I think cardboard adolescent is a cool guy and if we ever meet I'll toke with him and convince him that my smoke tunes > his smoke tunes.

Same as above with LesPaul.

and I'd put it in Jibber's butt.

jibber 03-16-2007 07:35 PM

^it was, until a few people made snide remarks about past disagreements, and since the "niceness" of the thread was effectively pushed aside, I decided to reply to said snide comment.

and rise, I suppose it's the intention that counts, even if the wording was a little more crude than I'd like, haha.

Aye, but what if you're a fake person, and being fake is being yourself.

TheUsedToolguy 03-16-2007 10:10 PM

It's not true that everyone is fake, or everyone puts on an act. When we're in our teens we are probably our most vulnerable, and most likely to be fake. However, people can work themselves out of that trend. It's just unfortunate that a lot of adults still act like they did when they were teens.
