Its called 300 because thats how many Spartans warriors went to battle the millions of persians.

And RAR is right. If you dont see it, you suck. Saw it opening night last night, the place was packed..it was soo worth it. Im seeing it again in a few weeks at the Imax in Victoria.[/COLOR]

That's exactly why I won't be seeing it. I hate crowds

PaperHurricanesAndPlanes 03-10-2007 10:44 PM

The opening line of a review I read said "This movie is like Apocalypto, only more stupid."

Laces Out Dan! 03-10-2007 10:46 PM

Dont listen to reviews...why do you care what someone else thinks about the movie. Go see it yourself and judge it on that.

That's a good point, especially when you consider critics hated movies like Scarface, Cape Fear, and Natural Born Killers-all great movies!!

right-track 03-11-2007 01:47 AM

If I even suspect this Hollywood blockbuster of a movie is a thinly veiled metaphor for your boys in I-rak...I'm going to kill someone, or worse still take up self harming.

Please tell me that amidst this spectacular, there is some historical accuracy with content and that it's not just chewing gum for the eyes.

acratertocoffin 03-11-2007 03:21 AM

It's based on the graphic novel which was based directly from the legend.

It's amazing. Seriously, go see it.

bobinatcat 03-11-2007 04:36 AM

wells. meh i have seem previews...and im off when it comes out for sure.

In my Latin class we had to translate primary sources about the battle of Thermopylae (sp?). And from what i've heard about the movie the stories seem pretty different.

enemyat_thesix 03-11-2007 09:57 AM

Who gives a crap if it's historically accurate? Jesus Christ, it's a movie, not a documentary.

Kevorkian Logic 03-11-2007 10:11 AM

I was just saying it wasn't based directly from the legend, like acratercoffin said.

learn to ****ing read before you speak

skindredluver 03-11-2007 10:14 AM

I meant that as in it's a second hand souce. That being said, I took it as a movie based on a graphic novel, it makes it more fun to watch.

under 03-11-2007 11:04 AM

I'm probably gonna go see it with some buddies soon, I have wanted to see it since it's come out in Theatres.

It's based off a graphic novel that was based off of the actual events. Shit how many more times does it have to be said. The least realistic thing is the hunch back guy but there actually was a traitor. I don't think he was hunch back. And the Persians actually did have a fleet of 10,000 Immortals but I don't think that they really lepers. But the goat thing. What the hell? I lawled. And the giant that ripped the sword out of his bicep was cool. The battle scenes were epic.

We were discussing the goat man the whole walk home. No one thinks twice about it. Huge leper orgy, man with blades for arms...goat man. It seems kind of tame in comparison.

Frances 03-11-2007 08:24 PM

Looks like it'll be great.

The Dave 03-11-2007 08:44 PM

I saw this last night with my friend.... it made me want to throw spears at people as I was driving home.

But seriously, it's really good.

jibber 03-11-2007 09:57 PM

it was a pretty good movie, the main thing I liked about it was the cinemetography. no matter what critisisms you have about it, you have to admit, the filming was SPECTACULAR.
but, historically accurate? not even a LITTLE bit. The vast majority of the persian army was black, persians arent, and were never, black. where the f*ck did they get a rinocerous? the random guy with blade arms....i get that they can have some artistic liscence, but COME ON. it would have been just as powerful if they'd done some research and TRIED to make it look authentic instead of having a persian army that's some wierd hybrid of indian, african, and pretty much every OTHER culture aside from persian.

cardboard adolescent 03-12-2007 01:07 AM

the fight scenes were awesome but seriously, way too much plot and character development. i didn't go watch that movie to watch people talk... i went to it to see spartans ****ing up persians. i don't care about the historical stuff, they have the basics down, but seriously there was only like half an hour of awesome fighting in a two hour plus movie they should've put in more fighting

DearJenny 03-12-2007 07:02 AM

Easily the best movie I've seen this year. Cinematography blew my mind! I thought the script was a bit lame at times but a few of the lines were funny or actually pretty good. I personally liked the character development. So many feelings about this movie. The fight scenes were pretty cool, however it started to become redundant after the magicians. And the movie was more historically accurate than I thought, but it was still a stretch. And of course its Hollywood so they made exceptions. I ignored that because I was busy looking at 300 bare-chested ripped men, with Gerard Butler as their fearless leader.

Heh, there were also quite a few pairs of breasts, very nice ones in fact.

MURDER JUNKIE 03-12-2007 09:24 AM

Yeah, the erect nipples were a definate plus

DearJenny 03-12-2007 09:58 AM

^The oracle had funny looking nipples. They stuck out too far or something. Other than that, they didnt excellent casting for the chicks. the Oracle was VERY hot other than the nipple problem.

Barnard17 03-14-2007 06:59 PM

Release delayed in the UK :(

cardboard adolescent 03-14-2007 07:10 PM
