Default Area Codes

How do you find the area code for your number.Like heres an example I live in Pahrump and the area code thing is 775.In vegas the area code thing like say you wanted to call someone is Well heres a fake number but this is what it would look like

1-702-678-8976
Heres one for Pahurmp
1-775-098-9876
You catch my drift!lol and if anyone knows do you know the one for New York

Look in the phone book, they usually have a map of the US with each state's area codes listed in the front somewhere.

I'm pretty sure 1 is the code for America. And it may be that other countries use 3 digit area codes like the USA, so therefore a country code is required, just so you don't ring that same number in Russia or where ever.

New Zealands code is 64. We only have 2-digit area codes as well, since we're a much smaller country. A NZ phone number would look like 64- 03- 345 6789
