Can someone kind enough please tell me what Marmite is..and what the difference between it and Vegemite is?

Marmite is yeast extract.
I think Vegemite is the Aussie version.

I was virtually brought up on Marmite butty's.

What does it taste like..and how would you eat it?

Is it anything like thermite?

On a slice of bread and it tastes bitter. It's a strong taste.

Well heres the deal..I was just offered some from a friend..long story and I didnt know if I should take it and risk suffering from "curiousity killed the cat" or tell them no thanks...

Eat it. You haven't lived until you tried Marmite.
You'll either like it or absolutely hate it.
It's a taste thet grows on you though so at least give it a go.
It's also very good for you.

I took it..and it looks like a Guiness bottle...

dont try it. When i went to england they all tricked me into thinking it was going to taste good! its gross, sour and bitter.
