Lets not get into british politics....american politics seem to be far more interesting.

Whatever happened to childhood? We're all scared of the kids in our neighborhood; They're not small, charming and harmless, they're a violent bunch of bastard little shits and anyone who looks younger than me makes me check for my wallet, my phone and my keys, and I'm tired of being tired out. Always being on the lookout for thieving gits.

We're all wondering how we ended up so scared. We spent ten long years teaching our kids not to care and that "there's no such thing as society" anyway, and all the rich folks act surprised when all sense of community dies. But you just closed your eyes to the other side Of all the things that she did.

And it seems a little bit rich to me, the way the rich only ever talk of charity.
In times like the seventies, the broken down economy meant even the upper tier was needing some help. But as soon as things look brighter, yeah the grin gets wider and the grip gets tighter, and for every teenage tracksuit mugger. There's a guy in a suit who wouldn't lift a finger for anybody else.

You've got a generation raised on the welfare state. Enjoyed all its benefits and did just great. But as soon as they were settled as the richest of the rich, they kicked away the ladder, told the rest of us that life's a bitch. And it's no surprise that all the fuck-ups, didn't show up until the kids had grown up, but when no one ever smiles or ever helps a stranger, Is it any fucking wonder our society's in danger of collapse?

So all the kids are bastards, but don't blame them, yeah, they learn by example. blame the folks who sold the future for the highest bid. That's right, Thatcher fucked the kids.

Easy answer.
In real terms the Falkland Islands meant nothing to either side, certainly not strategically nor economically, certainly not enough to go to war over.
What the U.S failed to understand, was that this was to be a war fought in the name of honour. Probably for the last time in modern history.

Following the invasion of the Falkland Islands by Argentine forces, the U.S. tried everything within their power to solve the situation through diplomatic means, mostly based on some form of compromise.

Thatcher was having none of it and refused to be budged.

Blair, faced with the same situation now, would allow himself to be swayed by American opinion.

Welfare is slowly being reformed. I do hate politics, it frustrates/depresses me to no end. I hate Bush, ect. But they are working on welfare. And if society is going to collapse. Let it collapse. We probably will get a better one from the ashes.

I think your talking about Andrew Jackson

tdoc210 02-19-2007 05:36 PM

..get yer histoey straight mate
..emancipation..procalmation.
and yes lincoln sent pox blankets to natives.

Jackson would bever free slaves either

Loser 02-19-2007 05:39 PM

Lincoln never did that to the natives because at that time all the natives already were removed off their land and put on reservations. And the emancipation didn't legaly free the slaves.

I was going to find some handy list on the internet that would shed light on your misguided view of history.

Instead I found this site about if Lincoln is ***:http://www.***heroes.com/abe.htm

TheUsedToolguy 02-19-2007 06:14 PM

As far as Kennedy, he was probably killed by Oswald who was working for the KGB @ the time. Russia felt like he posed a big threat to communism, and wanted to get rid of him. Oswald was a former Marine, who became a big time dissenter and a communist. He wasn't a patsy. He hated this country, and would stop @ nothing, to try and screw it up. Also, I agree w/ some of the comments on here mamagamr, like Kennedy was a lot more corrupt than people think, but Woodrow Wilson as one of the best? C'mon, that must b a joke like the one about Harrison. I liked that BTW.

TheUsedToolguy 02-19-2007 08:28 PM

BTW, is Arnold actually going to run? I know he hasn't thrown his name in yet, but has he made plans for 2008 or 2012?

He can't. You know that whole natural born citizen thing.

Gore sucks, I'd take Hillary anyday. Sure Gore cares about the environment, but he's fat off big business. If u don't believe me just look at a picture of his ******. Gore is a good example of a politician who will say whatever he can to get him elected, his brother used to work for a tobacco company, and they both made lots of dough off it. Then, a few years back, Gore is staunchly against tobacco. C'mon it's alright for people to evolve, but Gore does more 180's than Lebron James. As far as Arnold, I heard they were thinking about amending the foreign citizen law. U know they would, if he's the repub. party's best chance to win.

mccain seems like an alright guy, but he has some sick fetish w/ leaving POW's to die. He has 0 compassion for POW's even though he used to be one himself. Whatever admin. he worked for, he was responsible for finding POW's, and he would say, 'nope, sorry they're gone,' when there was a ton of evidence pointing to the contrary. Hey, everyone gets power from somewhere, and I'd rather see a total byotch in the white house than another sadist.

so mccain shows no mercy to POWs. the way the state of the union is, i wouldn't mind having a guy that is very sure of what he wants and rules with an iron fist than some female.
i'm veyr liberal and something of a feminist but there's no way i'd vote for hilary. something about her makes me cringe.

TheUsedToolguy 02-19-2007 09:49 PM

something about obama makes me cringe, and I'm not a racist by any means, when I say I'm going for Hillary it's obviously the lesser of 2 evils. Whatever evil the Repub. party throws out there, and then I'd even take Hillary over Edwards who is a scumbag trial lawyer w/ little or no conscience. Maybe America become informed enough politically to boost a 3rd party candidate into consideration, but w/ ignorance running rampant, I'll b realistic and probably vote for Hillary. Let's face it, she probably won't get nominated bcuz the Bible Belt would never vote for a woman. 'They're supposed to cook and clean, not run the country.'

I'm not a big Edwards fan(even though he saved my dad's life), mainly because he tries to pretend he comes from this poor, tough background, while in truth his father was the manager of the factory(not a factory worker like he portrays). And I find it annoying that his 4.5 million dollar beach house is never mentioned in his i'm the poor people's man campaign.

Do you even own guns? And if by some wild chance of nature they were taken away, would it effect your life?

As far as guns go I'm for the right to bear arms. Studies have shown that if you take people's guns away, criminals won't feel intimidated about breaking into your house at all. The incidence of violent crimes committed w/ knives and other weapons goes way up. Generally, the murder and violent crime rate stays about the same w/ incidence of break-ins and robberies way up. It's sad to say the term necessary evil has any pertinence in a society but sadly it does in ours. Hopefully, one day it won't, until then maybe they should just ban hunting sport: OK, we get it people it was once ok to go around killing animals, it was called survival. What they're doing now is not necessary, it is called sadism.

Kevorkian Logic 02-20-2007 05:18 PM

I totally agree, I just found the idea of skindredluvr talking about guns humorous.

Because men with guns can overthrow the government, and there might be a time when the government needs to be overthrown

Actually, my teacher has a list of 8 historic truths:

1) The British and the French always hate each other
2) Everyone never always agrees
3) Men with guns can overthrow the govt.
4) Katie Little is in it for the tax money
5) Caroline Fish is in it for the violence
6) Ladies love Alex Moss
7) Girls with lipgloss are dangerous.
8) People are always dazzled by shiny objects

That's where I got the idea, plus I was too stoned during V for Vendetta to really remember it.
