Then you pressed the wrong button.

The patch is because windows XP service pack 2 limits the amount of connections you can have at any one time. When you max that it just shuts off, meaning that torrent and P2P programmes are S.H.I.T. The patch enables you to allow windows to open more connections. You have to read what the command prompt is telling you because at some points it says "pressing no will abort the patching process".

Yeah, pretty much, like I said, this patch is not for you and you should really do a bit more research before installing patches that can potentially be lethal to your windows.

Soulseek so very much rocks!!
I get problems liek tha but in my case I have to do something they call port forwarding and then after that it works correctly
it usally happens after a pretty bad crash or power outtage thank heavens for SoulSeek!!!!!

exactly the reason why i dont have service pack 2 anymore
