Yeah of course it does. But that doesn't mean we're compelled to doing something. To be cheesy, you don't have to do anything but breathe and die.

im replying to this without reading prior posts with exception to swims opening statement, Free Will DOES exist, your born with your DNA yes, and thats shapes how you look and your personality to amn extent, but the environment is not something uncontrollable. human beings have strong enough brains to make the decision of how the environment is going to affect them. we make decisions every day, what do you call that?

We can't choose our environment. You didn't choose how well off your parents were, if they were abusive, if they were supportive, what country, state, city, neighborhood you live in. For the first 18 years of your life you can't help where you are.
Decisions are reactions based on logic, knowledge and morals. You either embrace or neglect.

You have to make a choice between unknown music A and unknown music B. The discs are blank and identical, the only differing factor is the music on each of them, of which you haven't heard yet.
Who do you pick? Why? If they're completely identical, theres nothing to influence you on which one to pick, right? This choice must be down to free will, surely?

I ask you a related question. Is our concoious based solely on logic, knowledge and morals?

There aren't any mental influences because both are equal. There are physcial influences however. I pick the one on the right because I'm right handed and it's easier to pick it up.

I would honestly choose neither and put on music I know, because not knowing who the band is would drive me up the wall after I listened to either of the blank cds.

Lol, but you could have used your right hand to pick up the left one also.

Basically. Feelings are a reaction. Actions are based on what you know, how you think and what you think is right and wrong. Give or take.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. |
