It's not the speakers because headphones don't work either. I don't think it's another program because I didn't change anything on anything. I literally clicked a different song and the sound stopped.

I think I'm going to try uninstalling wmp because I'm messing with it now and it won't go to the next track when it's finished the one it's on. I'm guessing there's something funny with wmp.

I checked the volume and it's on but I was listening in wmp and I clicked on different song and it didn't make any sound and I was like what the hell this isn't a silent track. All I did was change songs.

^ do you have front panel sound? if that works your sound card wiring may have come undone for rear sound port

^thats happened to me before. Ill click on something to play and the song just wont start, i usually just have to reboot the program, not my entire computer though.

swim...if it happens again go to control panel and click on sounds and audio devices.
If the mute box is ticked, that'll be why.
The same thing happened to me about a year ago...it kept tripping out and showing up mute.
I have a sneaky suspicion that my mobile phone was the culprit, as it coincided with an incoming text on a couple of occasions.

It was weird...I used to put the phone on the pc desk and seconds before I got the text I could hear the buzzing sound coming through the speakers.
