Its £3.00 an hour, if you're under 18 but above compulsory school attendance age.

"In England and Wales: a person is no longer of compulsory school age after the last Friday of June of the school year in which their 16th birthday occurs. "

And so speaketh the government.

I don't think there's a minimum wage for people who are still of compulsory school age. The idea is that you should be in school!

So if you're already 16, then your minimum wage is £3 per hour. Anybody who says anything else is lying.

You still can go somewhere else, or demand more. Minimum means just that - the minimum they can legally pay you. You can still be paid more.

Damn that seems really low. I think the UK pound is worth just a little more than an America dollar but, still. What's the minimum wage for people older than 18?

Edit: I think the 3 pounds is close 4 dollars and, the minimum wage here I think is 5.15.

£4.25 per hour from 18-21, £5.05 per hour for 22 and over (unless they're doing on-job training with a qualification attached, in which case it's still £4.25).

3 Pound over here is roughly $9.

The youth wage rate is something like $7.50 an hour here. So the UK is not the worst working environment in the world AITA. Just look at the sh*thole over here.

And our adult minimum wage is $10.25, which works out to be something like 3.40 UK money. So really, if you were working over here and we transferred your 3.40 to NZ money, at your age, you'd be doing pretty well:)

Which begs the question why haven't I moved to England yet.
