And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

How do you know if a bump on you is necessary to be checked out by a doctor for cancer? I mean are there any specific qualities other than a lump?

depends ont he area where the bump is and sometimes your gender.
although you shouldn't worry about cancer at you age since it's "unheard of" for our age group. Your main problem is cysts.
It is possible to have certain cancers at your age however. Although those types of cancers tend to be heriditary or have genetic causes.

The only reason I ask is because it is fairly common in my family. I mean I found one but it's tiny and I'm more than sure that it'll go away. If it doesnt I'll ask my biology teacher. I was kind of more curious for later in life seeing how my grandma had breast cancer twice, my uncle had a brain tumor and my aint died from cancer when she was like 27.

heh, does it hurt? red? those are bad signs, or a really abd pimple, otherrwise it could be a benign tumor. or a tumor that has not matatiscized(sp?) or become malignent, sun cancers are usually black and brown and resemble moles, such as melonoma.

not sure about the brain cancer but . . . .
if you know that specifically ovarian and breast cancer run in the family then it is is hereidtary and you have a brca 1 gene mutation for it. it's neither recessive or dominnat in some cases and just happens.

If brain cancer runs in the family then genes that trigger these things are influenced by more than one chromosome and some may be mendelian traits. in which cases it's not necessarily heriditary but you get it because of things in the environment.
