From Audio Lecture To Written Lecture (member, teacher)

My friend recently got the program because she recorded all the lectures to help her understand everything from her two important classes. It converts everything that’s said on tape into this program, which also goes into writing. It also recognizes her teacher’s voice & how certain words are said.
But she had to program it into Dragon for his voice to be recognized first before transcribing anything.
She loves it, and ArsTechnica loved this program too. They rated it 9/10!

yeah, ive used Dragon Naturally Speaking before, its not as reliable is it claims, It messes up about every 5th word or so.

Which version did you use?
My friend is currently using Version 9, and sometimes she'd slow down the speech on the tape to have Dragon re-recognize what it didn't recognize before. It worked for her.

it was years ago so it was probably a very early version of the program, i dont remember off the top of my head.

I've got Dragon too. For me it's only really useful when I have to spend a long, long time writing something, where it would tire my poor little dyslexic brain out to type for the same time period. If you can touch type it tends to be much, much faster to do that instead.

That's cool.
My friend recently told me that the longer she uses it, the simpler it is for her to have Dragon recognize anything that she's saying. Of course, there's a difference between commanding something and dictating what needs to be written within a writing documentary. But she noticed that when she had to type a long paper or something, her wrists and figners would get sore. After getting Dragon, she didn't have to worry about it.

lol, this thread actually made me laugh because I bought this software recently and have been using it for my lectures too........but I also use it to write my papers and emails and sometime IM's--depending on how lazy I am. It has improved a lot I guess from earlier versions and its really user friendly now.
