In younger kids I've seen cyberbullying like things being posted that are really inappropriate and crass. If someone is already feeling insecure about themselves it is definitely something that could lead to mental instability or suicidal thoughts - especially teenagers who are already riding an emotional rollercoaster.

I didn't say the cat died you dark minded thing! I mean a harmless status like "TheCunningSunts cat is better than yours lol" and someone comments and decides to be a cock. Hm, maybe. But I think everyone had rumours about themselves at one point or another, it's a right of passage, apart of growing up. But like I said, if that's happening online just delete the person. Even if they continue to spread things, if the internet died they'd have to do it the old fashioned way - through conversation.

I can see why people think it's a terrible thing but if it wasn't on the internet, it'd be something else. Kids are cruel. :(

LOL I have no idea where I got the cat dying from! Haha... it's obviously too late and I need to go to bed. But yeah I know what you mean. People are can be twats on the internet, and others need to realise that they can adjust their security/ privacy settings and block or delete them.

And you're exactly right about it happening somewhere else if it wasn't on the net. Unfortunately bullying will always be prevalent, it's what occurs out of the incredible tension of growing and being a teenager. It has been happening decades and decades before the internet existed.

People can be twats on the internet? I think people can be twats period. I think people just find any medium to have a pop at, oooh Facebook sparks suicide. Oooh My Chemical Romance spark suicides.

No they don't. If it wasn't them things, it'd be because they were unhappy with their life listening to Joy Division. Or people were bullying them in the real world.

And like you say if you're getting shit just adjust your privacy settings. I find it a really weak argument when people say that Facebook is a bad thing, it's the people using Facebook.

People can be twats period, but people are generally more unforgiving on the Internet because of the fact that they can bully anonymously, or behind a wall which is less confronting than in real life. That's what I meant by saying people can be twats on the internet. But yeah. Agree.

Oh right I see what you mean, but on the flip side - the person being bullied can press a few buttons and get rid of the bully, they don't get that privilege in real life when they're having their head shoved down a toilet.

Nope, I quite like my real name. I just like the mystique around the not knowing.. Plus I like my username as well.

hahaha, "Fodder" it must suck to have that for a last name.

Sansa Stark 05-31-2010 12:06 PM

It's not my real last name, dickweed
I took the last name after Alig Fodder, from the band Family Fodder
I make it a point that no one knows my last name on the internet
