A discussion at work got onto Facebook yesterday and I was actually called 'sad' for not using FB. Have the masses become so dependent on this that anyone who dares not to have it, is some sort of social misfit?

Calling me sad doesn't bother me at all. The irony however was obviously lost to them with that statement.

Fight the power. Facebook is lame.

There are better was of keeping in touch with people than facebook, ie ones that don't send you a notification everytime someone 'likes' something. I used to log into mine everday before I just stopped caring to the point that I haven't checked it for months. Gotta say, I don't feel like I'm missing out on much.

I've never had a facebook account (except for that one time when I tried to open one during a sleeping pills induced stupor, but I don't think I managed it). At this point it's sort of evolved into a defiant reluctance, coz you know, EVERONE has one. Plus, I think I'm involved in too much social networking as it is and I don't feel the need to reconnect with people I've lost touch with.

I'm guessing none of those people have families to look after, or if they do, they're neglecting them and spending more time clicking on cows and crops on Farmville instead. People need a little perspective, scratch that, a kick back into reality.

I love how the masses, and their logical interest in fun, efficient, technology, can turn reasonably intelligent people into cranky, misanthropic, ogres who deny their own curiosity and enjoyment just because they disapprove of other peoples actions.

I know this is off-topic, but sometimes I just like talking about things I like.
