Default Cool Cult Films

Okay I've just subscribed to Blockbuster.

Now, I'm being told by my teacher that I could have a profession in acting. Soooo I'm trying to root out Cool Cult Films to broaden my knowledge of the whole acting thing, and just movie knowledge in general. How different types of films work etc.

I've already researched on a film called Brick and I'm going to rent that out I think... any more suggestions?

Return of the Killer tomatoes, deepthroat, and attack of the 50 ft. woman are the kind of movies I think about when hearing the word cult...

But I'm not sure if that's what you mean, if you just want good movies, watch I am sam, and forrest gump, great acting! And I've heard that jack nicholson is great in one flew over the cuckoo's nest. But I only read the book, so I wouldn't know.

Everyone ever should see One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, it's ace.

Although, for cult films, it depends what you want.. Go see A Clockwork Orange, if you haven't already, look into Tobe Hooper too, and Apocolypse Now, all the obvious ones. Blade Runner had a fair amount of cult following too..

It's hard. Depends on what you want... Even stuff like Fritz the Cat was a cult film. And I'm betting that's not quite what you were looking for...

A lot of cool cult are 18s, so they won't let you rent those will they?

Ignoring that, as far as good acting goes:

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest (correct, its brilliant acting in that one)
Trainspotting
Godfather Pt I and II (I've not seen the 3rd, maybe that's good too)
Taxi Driver

Plus any with Russel Crowe, as I'd say he's the best of the more recent actors (watch A Beautiful Mind if you haven't already seen it).

And to learn the more minimalist... less is more... approach to acting, go for some Clint Eastwood because he does it to a tee. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a masterclass in eye close-ups!

Definately; Spinal Tap/Withnail And I/Taxi Driver

Also;
Jacobs Ladder/Don't Look Now/The Wicker Man/A Taste Of Honey (old but essential, if it's not a cult film...it should be) /Blow Up (If you have not seen this film...you haven't lived)/ Duel (Spielberg's first film) and above all else...Dr. Strangelove.

I was looking for more recent cult films to be honest... or cult films that you can relate to today, such as A Clockwork Orange. Definately the cool ones, and preferably British.

I've seen parts of a Clockwork Orange and I badly want to see Trainspotting, and yeah I can rent over 18s.

I'll take all these into account. Gotta see This Is Spinal Tap though... I'm looking for the more musical orientated ones to be honest... with a good soundtrack and is all around artistic and stylised in the way it was developed.

I'm being too specific here, but I really want to see a stylised film.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.
