Oh dont give me that crap. People always tout this but its actually just a myth. While its a widely used practice, technically, its nowhere on the books.

I know but i'm saying you should get rid of the whole oath over religious book thing to kinda show that there is seperation of church and state.

they use it b/c people's faith is usually very important to them and swearing on their prospective holy book helps to show that they are telling the truth when they take the oath.

these said people are retarded. saying a few words over a holy book that was composed by a bunch of schizophrenics does not increase the chances that the person doing the swearing will follow through on his word.

saying that the holy bible was composed by a bunch of schizophrenics is extremely offensive. im sure its offensive to muslims over the Koran as well. its shows a good faith effort (no pun intended) to do a good job in their office.

I don't think the koran was composed by a bunch of schizophrenics.

I do think that the bible (especially the old testament) was composed by a bunch of men suffering withfrom some serious hallucinations who also happened to be rather prejudiced.

I mean no offense to anyone.
I myself have a St King James Bible

thats like saying "i cant be racist, my neighbor is black". gimme a break. and people reaching the spiritual level to where they can actually TALK TO GOD should be something to admire, not make jokes about. its called enlightenment and its something we should all strive for.
