the UN has no power and is a joke. The U.S. would do better to pull out. a world court is a good idea but not making security decisions without an army.

The Official Religious/Political Debate Thread
iv been doing a lot of studying on the origins of christianity in recent times and am wanting to talk REASONABLY about it. i have nothing against christians, it just doesnt seem rational to me to follow something that was completely altered from its original state and forgered over the following centuries. barely anything is or was original in the whole religion.
again, i am after a debate, i will respect all things said by anyone in a reasonable response

I disrespect religion these days for exactly that reason. I know this guy who practically lives at the local church, he has c.ds on religion, books, he does work for the church and so on. But the guy is as un-religious, not in belief but in actions, as the next. Bar the nieve self esteem which he gains from believing in God, he still swears, drinks, eyes up women and generally attempts to be as much of a "man" as he can. Is that not hypocritical in the extreme?
I do not know how correct the Passion of the Christ is (you know the movie..) but if it is a true representation of Jesus than I am glad I am not a believer. In the film Jesus is saying he is the only way, the all important, if you will. I find it very arrogant and disrespectful of a humans intelligence, to try and con them into relying on a system of belief. It is a critisism of mans ability to walk on our own two feet and be independent. I would feel foolish to neglect all the joys of the "real" world just stay faithful to a way that will never be. I know that is not entirely what you are wanting, but it is my view upon religion so I hope it helps in some way.
