Does anyone know whats up with Fiji?
I know theres a coup and the PM Qarase has been forced from parliment by the Military, but why? Does the govt there not control the Military? Did the PM do something wrong or completely left/right of centre politics to piss the Military off? Does the Military leader just want power or was he just bored??? I don't get why the nations Military would do this to the nations Govt...for the 4th time in 20 years.

There's a state supreme court case in nc, [I'm not sure what it's exactly called but Mecklenburg board of edu. is in the name I think anyway] it said bussing is necessary in order enforce segregation because neighborhoods are for the most part segragated and you can't tell people where to live.

Busing accomplishments racial diversity in some schools. But let's say you want to go to a school in 'white suburbia' and they deny you because they fulfilled their minority quota. That's discriminatory. the case is being rethought because some white chick wants to apply for affirmative action at a college (that I think is all black). It's a lot of crazy crap.

Good question. I don't actually know what the main political stories in the UK are this week. I'll go and look... (goes and looks)...
Gordon Brown has sought to establish his green credentials as he announced fuel and air duty increases in his 10th and possibly final pre-Budget report. In some ways I really like the increases in fuel taxes that keep appearing in the UK as it discourages people from making pointless journeys and discourages the people with half a brain from buying big cars in the first place. Compared to other countries, fuel tax isn't as likely to dampen the way business, trade and travel work within Britain because the country is quite small anyway. I think the most annoying thing about the increase in fuel taxes is that the money taken from them doesn't seem to be used to improve any of the public transport systems in any way. If you're dissuading people from driving somewhere, it's just annoying if you aren't helping them to get there in any other way. |

On to a somewhat gruesome topic. the death penalty is regulated by the states. texas being one of the number one states to execute the most people.
the death penalty is legal i PA. I'd love for someone to change that. (hopefully casey'll move us in that direction)

they also have sodomy laws.
anal sex between any two people (heteros included) is illegal. Now that's funny
