Oh, ok. I can see that setup as encouraging more conservative and religious states (along with all of the others) to go towards stem-cell research, as medicine companies will probably prefer to base themselves in the states which allow stem-cell research.

But its difficult because every political faction and interest group has a different definition of "stem-cell research," varying from doing tests to cure mice of the common cold, to full on human cloning. Thats why the issue is so confusing to many voters.

Do you know what it is that actually passed then? I mean, what type of stem-cell research were they meant to be voting on?

Honestly, I have no idea. I assume its stuff like harvesting stem cells from umbicle cords and dead babies to try to cure lukemia (and stuff of that nature).

Right now stem cell research that is allowed uses neurons in the nose that can regenerate themselves.
Cloning (be it for advancements in stem cell, genetic, or reproductive research) is not allowed.

When it comes t stem cells though and abortion, it looks like our nation is heading towards making both legalized. (I love democrats)

Oojay, I hope you didn't mean the Democrats will be ourr downfall seriously.

Between their regained control of congress and Rumsfeld stepping down, we're set to go in a direction that isn't complete ****.

I seriously doubt that abortion will ever become legal in every state, maybe a few liberal ones like massachusettes or california, but the majority of americans oppose it.

I agree that having a bi-partisan Congress (if the Republicans can maybe, possibly, not likely keep control of the senate) would most likely be better for the nation as a whole, but with Pelosi as the House Speaker (aka the public face of the US Congress), we will definitely have some problems .
