Personally, I'd rather think that my ancestors were more like monkeys because.

1. It explains some things (I don't mean scientifically).
2. Its really funny.

Urban, I suppose you could almost say that God is a social constuct (like race)... God definitely exists in the same way that anything which exists in people's minds exists.

Your beliefs lead you to no longer question, and gives you easy answers when such questions are asked. It's unproductive, as it gains us nothing: no knowledge. How can we expect to learn if we just use "well God did it" as an excuse for everything. Big Bang may not have all the answers, but at least it's proponents are seeking them rather than flopping at the feet of a Jealous and Corrupt deity.

Yep, when I decided I believe in god I didn't do it because I really did believe in him, I just did it for easy answers.

I'm not saying it did. I'm saying that using it to "disprove" something is pointless because it's utterly unproductive. Religion and Science cannot be used to prove or disprove each other because they work in completely different directions (unless the Religion incorporates science). Thus bringing them into a scientific debate has little purpose and serves only to sideline it with irrelevant ravings.

Stone, check your science. The Universe is expanding, the evidence is pretty conclusive. The Universe also originated from one point in space. Unless the Red Shift is just subtly laid down to confuse us. Whether there are plural Universe is unknown.
