Australian motor racing legend Peter Brock has been killed in an accident in Western Australia.
He is understood to have died in the Targa West rally.
He was driving with Mick Hone in a Daytona Coupe, and it is unclear what his navigator's condition is.
The rally began in Perth on Thursday.
Peter Brock was born in 1945 and rose to fame in touring car racing, winning the Bathurst 1000 nine times during the 1970s and 80s.
He retired from full-time driving in 1997 but was a regular presenter on New Zealand television screens hosting programmes such as TV3's Police Stop and TVNZ's Love that Car.
Sky News reporter Terry Galloway says the death is a stunning blow. He says the man known as "Peter Perfect" had an impeccable driving record.
Most of you won't know him but trust me, he was the Steve Irwin of Motorsport:(

That is super lame. -turns on T.V-

Has been a bad week for this corner of the world.

hiu 09-08-2006 12:37 AM

R.I.P Brocky. You were the king of the mountain.

ava. 09-09-2006 07:49 AM

it's spelt 'Australia' or in plural 'Australians'.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-09-2006 08:16 AM

Not when you are talking about Australasia it isn`t

ava. 09-09-2006 08:19 AM

it happened in Australia, not Australia + NZ.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-09-2006 08:29 AM

Did you not read the original post?

did you not read my post? IT HAPPENED IN AUSTRALIA. and how is it 'more' sadness for Australasia when Steve Irwin, also was Australian, and died in Australia.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-09-2006 08:35 AM

I`ll stop now you`re obviously an idiot

ava. 09-09-2006 08:39 AM

Pfft.
You obviously have nothing better to say.
I'm really not offended.
If you can judge people by what, 4 or so posts then you seriously don't know how to do it very well.

Australasia is perfectly fine term to use. It's implying that it not only affects Australians but also everyone nearby as well. Stop being a prick.

ava. 09-09-2006 08:52 AM

ahem.
why don't we just say WORLD then.
you all seem to care and your from **** knows where.

Merkaba 09-09-2006 04:16 PM

Because the rest of the world doesn't know who is, do they?

Forget the terminology, you shouldn't post in here if that was your only reason for posting.

ava. 09-09-2006 06:49 PM

ohh sorry,

believe me.
brocky was the coolest.
especially his television ads XD

Blain 09-09-2006 06:57 PM

Australasia I think means the overall area. Like the area where Australia and New Zealand are located, because it kinda affects New Zealand too

ava. 09-09-2006 07:02 PM

yeah, i know. lol.
i just don't see the point but ok.

tdoc210 09-09-2006 07:35 PM

You don't see the point cos you're a bigoted, f*ckwit Australian who probably thinks Tim and Neil Finn were born there and a Holden is a real car.

Your not by chance from Brisbane are you?

Merkaba 09-10-2006 12:44 AM

Aw hey lets just leave the sentence at "born there.";)

The Torana was a great car.

Blain 09-10-2006 04:25 AM

I'm offended now Cheeseman... Not all Aussies are f*ckwits, in exception of John Howard

dog 09-10-2006 06:38 AM

True they were in dangerous careers, but they were both Aussie legends. Steve Irwin affected the whole world, he relieved places of distressed animals and saved them when they could have simply been shot. And Peter Brock is just c00l <3

ava. 09-11-2006 12:20 AM

simply so true.

The Torana was a great car.

Yes it was, but you may or may not know this it was in allreality just a slightly modified, rebadged Vauxhall Victor. The first Torana was actually a Vauxhall Viva.
