body piercings-safe or not?

i have heard loads of rumours and stuff about body piercings. I have 3 in my ears but i want to get my nose and belly done. Does anyone have any experience in piercings they can share with me. i 'd like to know more about it so i can decide whether to do it or not.

Rap~Nation 07-31-2004 07:29 AM

sorry man ot in2 piercings coz ma mates got infected an ****

stay in line 07-31-2004 02:11 PM

I know a lot about piercings.. ha ha. I have three in each ear, my belly button, a couple of unmentionables, and soon my lip.

You gotta be 16 or older to have anything done.. at least around here. Gotta have an I.D. and birth certificate. Make sure the place you go to has a good reputation. Make sure they use all new tools and make sure they have autoclave (the thing that cleans the jewelry). It really doesn't hurt that badly. It'll be sensitive the day after though. It'll be black from bruising. Just make sure you clean it real good. Dial hand soap turn it around real good and then put witch hazel on it. Just keep moving it to build scar tissue.

I know the process really well. I wasn't keeping up the cleaning too good for a month or so and it got real swollen and started oozing stuff.. so just make sure you clean religiosly.

Umm.. it takes 3 to 6 months to heal completely for your navel.. you can get the jewelry changed after 2 months though.

Thats about it. Just follow the places instructions and you'll have no problems. It really doesn't hurt that much. Feels like a pinch.

I'm getting my left nipple done soon. And I'm repiercing my ears as well. I've always fancied the idea of a nose ring too.. One of the hoop ones never a stud.

jibber 08-01-2004 04:22 AM

I know a guy who's roommate is a proffessional piercer, so for every piercing imaginable, I know someone who's had it done. As long as you go to a good place, your in good hands.

the last one 08-01-2004 09:43 AM

cheers guys! i should be getting some done next year but apparantly i heard you should have things pierced a while after each other, so your body can concentrate on healing that part of your body.
i was thinking of having a lip ring but i heard they can scrape the protective stuff off your teeth or something so i'm kinda going off that idea. I thing tongue studs look cool but they probably hurt way more and how the hell would you clean them? also food might get stuck, and that would be gross.

stay in line 08-01-2004 06:08 PM

actually anything in the mouth heals tons faster than anywhere else. food can get stuck, but listerine really does the trick. but a tongue ring really ****s up the enamel on your teeth.. way worse than a lip ring ever could.

franscar 08-01-2004 07:00 PM

Ok. Here's a question for the girls. I have a friend who recently got his eyebrow pierced, and he says that ever since he had it done, girls haven't left him alone. So come on ladies, do you go for a guy with bits of metal hanging off his face? And if so, what is it that attracts you to that kind of look?

Personally I'd never get a piercing done, I just don't think I'd suit one, but I have no problem with other people having them, and two of my ex-girlfriend's have had the sexiest belly button piercings ever.

*Wanders off drooling about sexy tummy's*

jibber 08-01-2004 07:45 PM

well, personally i have a thing for piercings, well maybe not all, depends on what it is and where. But i've dated guys with earings, eyebrow peircings, nipple peircings, and lip rings. But for me they have to be relatively small and tastefull, not like a huge gawdy peice of crap dangling in front of you, that's just creepy. Tatoos are the same deal, they look great if they're discreet, but if they're really noticable, or if they depict something really tasteless, it just looks trashy. Also, if you have a tat, it has to have some personal meaning to you, not just some picture in a book that you thought looked cool.

Jonah 08-01-2004 08:00 PM

Any types of body piercing are always a risk no matter what. However, if you are vigilant and get it done at a sterile place, and follow the proper healing regulations as required, then you’ll have no problems, simple as that.

Ah, cool. Well, I was thinking of getting one of these two tattoos done, and had been for a while, but my ex-girlfriend was dead against it. She's not around anymore so I'm thinking about getting it done again. What do you think of these two designs?

http://www.radio-quality.co.uk/images/amnesiac.jpg
Just the crying figure from the Radiohead cover for Amnesiac, or:

http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/n/r/nrb125/symbol.gif

The four symbols of the four members of Led Zeppelin from their fourth album. At the moment I'm pretty undecided about them, I like them, but I don't know if I like them enough to wear them for the rest of my life.

jibber 08-02-2004 10:42 PM

^ I think those would be cool, the first one is my favorite out of them. would you just get one of them, or all four?

franscar 08-03-2004 04:59 PM

I'd probably get one at a time, just to see how much it hurts (low pain threshold) and if that went ok then get the others at a later date. The first one is my favourite of them too, thanks for the input.

jibber 08-03-2004 11:28 PM

it apparently doesn't hurt too much, but then everyone has different pain thresholds, so i guess ya just have to try it out and see

2tonelol 08-08-2004 02:33 AM

I have a nipple done(now out) my nose (now out) and my ear (now out). They didn't hurt me,and i had no ill effects from them, keep them clean and they are ok.

I took mine out as EVERYONE has them now,i dont wanna be a sheep!

the last one 08-10-2004 09:29 AM

someone said do you fancy people with piercings. I like eyebrow and lip (sometimes) and i like those earrings boys sometimes wear, i dunno what they're called, the black ones that make a hole in your ear.
I think they look pretty cool.
i might be getting my nose done in about a week, it depends. My mum said i'm allowed if still want it done in a week but i will cos i've wanted a nose stud for ages i think they look wicked.

Thrice 08-12-2004 09:54 PM

I was gunna get the sublime sun and all the **** inside it, but they artist said it would have to go all the way across my back and i didnt like that.

I wanna get the CO CA dragonfly on my forearm...

And I pierced my ears myself, and I would not recommend doing it, it was a bit painful but more out just agonizing...its hard to get through your ear... now they are guged not too big, but only a 4. i wanna go to a 2 or 0...

Eltiraaz 08-13-2004 11:06 AM

Those black things boys put in their ears are called Plugs (they can be any colour though). and in order to stretch your holes that big to get a plug in you need to use spacers. Dont do this without researching how to, because it is painful.

Ya it is...i thought i was cool when i skipped froma 10 to a 6 but it sucked...

AmyLeeFan 08-26-2004 11:46 PM

Anyone with plugs in their ears is gonna be doomed in a street fight.

Runaway 08-27-2004 03:05 PM

Apart from belly button rings on girls I'm not into them, and as for eyebrow piercings being attractive? I cant see why, but thats just me.
I do like tattoos, although I dont have any. Its like someone said, they have a special meaning which I like the idea of, so long as you can be sure that you will still feel the same way about it and be in the same mindset for the rest of your life. Thats why I could never have any, except maybe celtic designs, cos I have quite an obsessive personality, but I can be quite fickle and am likely to change my mind at any minute.

Zee 08-27-2004 04:42 PM

Well I really don't care if a guy has piercings or not, but like Jibber said "for me they have to be relatively small and tastefull, not like a huge gawdy peice of crap dangling in front of you, that's just creepy." Tatoos I really don't care how big or small they are, they have to mean something to you, so when people ask you about it you can say "well it reminds me of when my daughter died" instead of "well I only did it cause it was a group sale, and it looked cool." That's a really big turn off and I can say on solid standads that most other girls will agree with me

franscar 08-30-2004 07:08 PM

I'd go see a doctor, much safer than taking any amateur advice.

0110 09-01-2004 07:45 AM

i have a pirceing in my eye brow and i didnt get it done wen i was 16 i was 15 it does tend 2 get infected from yime 2 time but i think it just depends on the person coz a freind got it done at same time and his has never been infected

what i do is squeeze it 2 all the **** comes out then wash it with an antiseptic wipe will hurt but works 4 me and if you go 2 the doctor he might tell you to take it out and leave it out

Thrice 09-04-2004 09:55 PM

When you pierce em you have to disinfect everything with at least peroxide. I pireced mine and cleaned em 3 times a day, and always twisted them and never got em infected. just clean em all the time...

I like guys with piercings cause it sorta screams "bite me." Or at least that's how I interpret it.
Although I usually draw the line when it coems to private parts. The way I see it, it won't effect me unless I'm sexually involved with you. Until then, whatever floats your boat.
And I can't understand why you'd ever want to get your tongue pierced.
It's one of the most sensitive body parts and i imagine it hurts like a b*tch.
You use your tongue to eat, talk, kiss, lick, and so many othe things I'm sure.

I used to have a sh*t load of piercings. But my body is wierd and after like three months of not having a ring or earring in the piercing, the hole just closed up. So at the moment, I only have two piercings. one in each ear. And there's a mark in left ear from where I used to have a standard bar.

Alo 07-03-2006 12:55 AM

Don't get a belly one. They look awful, and get infected really fast. This girl in school keeps picking at hers, removing crust, pus, and other substances oozing out of the thing. Yech!

I have no interest in piercing my tummy. It's fine as is. Besides, my stomach would be the worst piercing for me. Following closely behind the tongue.

You know what you shouldn't get pierced? Your pema. people who get this pierced scream like a b*tch. That and it can hiner your hearing capabilities.
I almost got that pierced and then I heard some guy getting it done from the next room over. No way jose.
That's just one of those things that shouldn't be pierced.

when I first replied to this thread, I could've swore it said tattoos as well.

Sound Devastation 07-03-2006 06:06 AM

i like guys with piercings but theres none i hate more than the eyebrow, it looks so tacky (same with navel piercings on girls IMO)

other than that.. i am very pro body-mod. though i only have 7 piercings (2 8mm lobes, 4mm lobe, scaffold, pinna, conch - i had to take out my beloved vertical lobe *cries*) and a tattoo.

pema? i have never hear that term before..

MURDER JUNKIE 07-03-2006 06:07 AM

I believe everyone knows my piercing stories

TheBig3 07-03-2006 06:33 AM

Safe? Medically? Sure... Socially? No.

gabbagabba_hey 07-03-2006 08:23 AM

the pema is the part of the ear used to catch sound waves. It's not on the lobe. It looks more as if it's part of the face. It's small nub of flesh sticking out. It isn't cartilidge which is probably why it hurts so much

Sound Devastation 07-03-2006 10:36 AM

oooh.. the tragus? i thought it was all cartilage? its pretty thick though.. a piercing i plan to get eventually.

under 07-03-2006 11:14 AM

Well I just got my ears pierced and it's a drag to keep turning them and washing them everyday and for belly button and eyeborws there will probably be the something you have to do with them. Anyway they also can cause alot of pain for like the first week.

My friend had her bely button pierced and she said that it hurts like hell for like the first week but than it just gets sore after a while and than like after 5-6 weeks you'll hardly notice.

For eyebrows I am not so sure but I am thinking it would hurt.

Raine 07-03-2006 11:49 AM

One of the most painful piercings I've ever seen was the guy that got his cheek (yes his cheek), his eyebrow and his nose pierced all in one day.
He linked a chain from each. it was so cool.
But it looked so painful.
