Once you reach the top of the first hill, you have to slow down. Sucide lane is well known for the fact that after each hill you have to slow down or you go caulting over the hill and land in some nasty bushes.

what are you in a rally car? No one runs that fast. Cresting is part of running.

at the top of each hill there's a curve or a clearing.
if you don't slow down you run off the paved ground and onto the clearing.
or if you get the curb you run into trees or bushes.

so, help me to understand what about this "suicide lane" would prove someone to be a fast runner....it sounds like the only difficult thing about it is that there are a few unexpected sharp corners, which would never be a problem in a xc race, since no one would be full on sprinting in order to pace themselves, and unless you're high/drunk/blind or all three you'd be able to adjust your direction accordingly in order to stay on the path.

suicide lane i rathe rugged terrian. a good deal of the trail is dirt and the rest is cement.
It's easy to get lost in it after the dirt part of the trail ends. Sharp curves and turns. Nobody likes it because it's easy to tri over anything or run into a clearing. Or get lost.
At my school frshmen or noobs to track or even cross country have to run this trail. it's sorta like initiation.

Good luck with that. Dont forget post work out shakes 2:1 ratio carbs/protein after every run. It'll significantly improve your times.

Simply because you cannot do it does not make it stupid.
