The 9/11 Report
It has some interesting stuff in there. One of the most notable things I've heard is that it talks about Clinton's National Security Advisor. This is the same NSA that is reported to have shoved classified documents down his pockets during Clinton's Presidency. But the most interesting bit of news is that on four seperate occasions the CIA came to the NSA when they had the location of Osama Bin Laden. All four times the NSA decided to take no action. So during Clinton's presidency, not only could he have taken Hussein out, but he could have also taken out Bin Laden. Hind sight is 20/20.

when clinton was presented with these "we know where osama is!!" he was also presented with a lot of doubt. they could not confirm exact locations, they knew the vicinity in which he was in. they knew *around* what time it would be.. they were *hoping* the sources were real... they had no unilateral support...
a screw up there could have meant global whip lash he did what he could, he got rid of one evil man, milosevic... he left sadaam for bush and osama will be for kerry...

There is always the view that he thought he was doing best leaving the situation alone.
If you take people like Bin Laden and Hussein out,you sometimes make them a martyr, then the backlash is worse. |

^ that is a good point, anyway, clinton may have made the situation worse, it might have been worse if he hadn't left it, we don't know. I was thinking about this, and really, is there any point on debating what could have happened, or what shuld have happened? bin laden attacked the us, bush went to war (for good or bad, this topic has already been completely exhausted, lets not have another debate on this). Now the most important thing to do is to figure out how to clean up the mess that has been made, because no-one can argue that the situation in iraq is not a complete mess.

I still don't believe that. A majority of the funding comes from Bin Laden. He is like the backbone of the terrorists, and it would have been great to get him out. Hussein would have saved a lot of trouble that we are going through now. The idea to go in Iraq was a great one. I am disappointed in the lack of thought about the period after takeover. But I still believe it would have been better to take them out during that period.

our economy would have crashed even harder going directly from e-boom butter market to a gun market
(butter = consumer) (guns = military/govt)

The US is worried about preventing more terrorist attacks, as they should be. And anytime war breaks out the economy will be boosted. That's just common sense.

not when the war isnt justified, and that, my friend, is common sense.
in a war such as world war II where the country believes in the cause, they will buy war bonds and support the economy throughout the war. in a war such as the current one where the administration lied and has no widespread support people will not buy war bonds, have pro-us rallies, and support the war and that leads us to our current economy and why it sucks so bad
