ermmz, i take pictures..ermm i would scan them on but they are cheap ass poloroids, cause mikey cant afford a decent camera

Stone Magnet 05-11-2006 05:47 PM

I like some photography, though I've never really understood what's so artistic about looking through a diminutive box and pushing a button.

explosions-in-my-pants 05-11-2006 06:52 PM

In you 'Graffiti pictures' i liked numbers 5 and 8.. the others didn't really catch my eye.

I didn't really like any of the 'people pictures'. There not artistic enough, opr they are i just don't see it. They seem really real, and normal pictures that any one can take. I bet thats what you were going for tho? if so then good. If not then what were you going for?

in your 'Misc pictures' i found them all to be very intersting and well taken. Not sure about two or three of them tho, the blood and the rope.. there really cool but questionable :) . The other pictures like the angels were really well taken, from intersting angles and coloring.

i love really bright and colorful pictues, and or black and white, but nothing really normal in between.
all in all good job.

i'm also very interested in photography, and hope to some day go to school for it.

If you really want to learn photography in the artistic sense you need to look into getting a 35mm SLR and a couple of black and white films and just experiment. Digital photography can only teach you so much, you need to know the original methods of photography.

It requires alot more than that. Firstly when you are taking the photographs you need to get the right appature for what you want, have the right shutter speed and setup a good composition. Then you have to process the film and then develop it and make some prints. You can then use a whole range of techniques while taking your film and making some prints, from using filters to masking, buring and dodging, to creating a movement burning effect to painting developer on your print. Those are just a few of the things you can use and the important thing is to see if you can do them well.

I really like them :)
and i agree with eimp. keep it up !
there are FAR too many people who claim to be photographers, or love photography, when all they really do is take a few pictures of themselves, and they're generally rubbish, but yours are ace, and you have a knack for it, so keep going !

Why don't you think I already know photography in the artistic sense.

Stone Magnet 05-29-2006 12:45 PM

Because you saw some real art on a wall, pointed a digital camera at it, and pushed a button.

That does not require any artistic talent...whatsoever.

bungalow 05-29-2006 03:16 PM

Haha, you're a fool.
So photography isn't art?

swim 05-29-2006 03:19 PM

I thought the pictures were pretty good.

It doesn`t need to be artistic it`s a photography thread not an artistic photography thread.

swim 05-29-2006 03:54 PM

Atleast he called graffiti real art.

bungalow 05-29-2006 03:55 PM

Photography is artistic too.
Look at some of the picture in the Misc. section, even the people and animals.
I definitly couldn't take a picture like that.

Not always.

bungalow 05-29-2006 04:52 PM

Sure could have fooled me.
I'm quite confidant that Ansel Adams would disagree with you there.

Stone Magnet 05-29-2006 04:56 PM

If only I cared what Ansel Adams had to say about anything.

bungalow 05-29-2006 04:57 PM

Oh, because you know much more about photography than he does

Stone Magnet 05-29-2006 04:58 PM

No, and I don't have to in order to state that quite a bit of photography fucking garbage and is not artistic at all.

bungalow 05-29-2006 05:10 PM

Just because YOU think it's garbage doesn't make it any less art.
So if someone made a painting that YOU thought was sh*t, it isn't art?
