I think when someone mentions their star sign we then try to find some aspect of our personality that fits in with the traits of that particular sign and then realise it's a right load of old cobblers and people born under one sign are completely different anyhow.

Truly.
Closest I've come to a standard analysis actually encapsulating me in an relatively uncanny way was the Meyers-Briggs typology. Everything else is just far too loose to not be selectively coincidental. |

i'll use myself as a simple example Libra born in the year of the Dragon. standard traditional astrology says X stuff about all Libras, and Y stuff about all Dragons, neither of which is really that close to me but all kind of relates. now the new combined approach says Z about Libra Dragons which actually seems to be a lot closer to my fundamental gut instincts than either the Libra or Dragon profiles ever were on their own. still not anything like a map of my cosmic soul or anything that ridiculous but definitely more entertaining and thought provoking than what i read on the placemat while waiting for my Szechuan combo or in the paper next to the funnies. |

As others have said, Myers Briggs and The Enneagram are by far more useful than newspaper horoscope. However, for those interested in their horoscope...you should probably find out your birthchart (it can be done for free online), as your horoscope (Cancer, Taurus etc.) actually signifies nothing on its own, it's just a Sun sign. It's actually supposed to be read in the context of a personalised birthchart. Still, approach with caution, especially if you ever encounter somebody asking for money.

Taurus.
Yeah Astrology is way too vague. The Meyers Briggs typology is quite well designed and the results people get from the questionnaires tend to be pretty accurate. |
