Default Hanging Around

There are some members here, who seem to spend an awful lot of their spare time on MusicBanter (I know I do) and you know, who you are.
Obviously this is a Music forum and we all share a love of music, but I'm sure there are many different reasons and I'm curious as to what they are.

So, what are your reasons for returning to MusicBanter on a regular basis?

Well I'm just a little new one, and I think it's pretty cool here.

I wanted to talk to some like-minded people, as the only person I can talk to about music is my dad, which is pretty lame. Hey, it's not my fault that kids these days are into bad music :P

You all seem like pretty cool people too, and this 'lounge' always has something interesting to read!

I use it to fill some of my down time. I'm always at work or school or training and I find chillin' with my headphones on, bulls**tin' on here a good way to blow some steam and relate (like bruised-violet said) with like-minded people.

This forum just works really well for me, for some reason. I seriously think its something to do with the layout and the colour scheme, it attracts people who just can't hack the tiny-fonted, black or white backgrounded, 'we have a million members so you never talk to the same one twice' effect that most other forums I've seen have. I don't know what it is, it just comes across as being more personable and that encourages the forum members to interact with each other in a more personable way too.

And somewhere along the line it becomes a bit compulsive.

I also think that the colour scheme is addictive, or maybe just hypnotic in an unexpected way.

Oh, also, it IS a good way to chat with people from other countries. Yeah, its mostly just a few countires and in international terms the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are (as much as people might not want to accept it) pretty similar cultures, but it still helps you to break out of the little cultural bubble you get trapped inside if you just interact within the town in which you live.

That's a good point. bruise_violet from N. Ireland, MJ's from Canada-eh, adidasss commin' to us from Croatia(makes for interesting conversation), cheeseman from New Zealand and so on. We're pretty diverse. In terms of culture, even more so. Concidering that countries like the UK, USA and Oh-Canada tend to have a taste of many-a-many countries and cultures within' their borders. Plus the different backgrounds, everybody's got their story.
