Besides the US, we get more tornadoes than any other country in the world.

I know, I just hadn't heard you had a serious one this recent.
I've been so busy last weeks that I haven't been able to watch the news.

ThePhanastasio 05-10-2011 06:34 PM

Tornado watches and warnings + flooding all over the place. So happy I live on a hill, because this flooding is straight up terrifying.

The main road right down the hill from me is apparently underwater, with dozens of cars stranded because the motorists tried to brave the high water only to have their call stall out.

There are also people stranded at a Kroger in downrown Ashland, as well as back roads being checked for people who may be trapped. Just called all of my friends who don't live in a high elevation to make sure they were okay. One had to go to higher ground, and the creek behind her apartment building has flooded there horribly. You can't get to the entrances and exits of the parking lot, because they're closed due to high water.

Kind of scary weather, really. I'm worried about the river flooding. It's been raining a lot and has been at flood level anyway...

s_k 05-11-2011 05:06 AM

What a mess, Sara. Good you're on a hill. Hope all your friends and relatives are okay too.
It's sunny here, but there have been some thunderstorms troughout the country.

crash_override 05-11-2011 05:10 AM

106 Degrees farenheit (41c) today, been over 100 all week. It's ****ing miserable.

s_k 05-11-2011 05:59 AM

That's rather extreme.

It's just getting started, in a month it will be 120-135 (49-57c) on a daily basis. With humidity.

s_k 05-11-2011 11:21 AM

You should move :D.

s_k 05-11-2011 12:36 PM

Oh it's like that.

crash_override 05-12-2011 01:48 AM

It's 104 degrees (40c), and it's 10:30 AM. Ridiculous.

s_k 05-12-2011 05:32 AM

It's not very hot (about 19 degrees) but it's really dry and sunny.
We already had a pretty big fire somewhere near last night, but now there's a HUGE fire 5 kilometres away. And I can see it very clearly from my bedroom window:

They (so far) sent 7 firetrucks from three different firestations.

Oh it's not like this everywhere here. The Netherlands are really crowded. We're just lucky :)

There were some hanggliders in the sky yesterday, by the way

s_k 05-24-2011 12:28 PM

Another video, bit more interesting I guess :D

Took a ride through the countryside :)

Stacey. 05-24-2011 12:33 PM

It's been freezing here the past few days again D:

I love the cold weather, like snow and rain and stuff..well being inside at least when it's like that with an open fire and that :D It's a well good feeling.

The warm weather is just ugh sometimes..but lately it's been really windy here and I don't like it at all though.

Necromancer 05-24-2011 01:02 PM

I have been located working mostly in between Baton Rouge and Lafayette Louisiana since last February. All the bad storms were north of that area, although I did have a close call while I was in Jackson Alabama just north of Mobile, and left a week before the tornado's struck that area back in April.
Since Ive been back home here in Ohio, its rained on the average of five days a week..lol.., I'm ready to go back to Louisiana and catch the hurricane  season.

Scarlett O'Hara 05-26-2011 05:40 AM

Let the rain fall down....

Well, I don't mind rain much but today was insane!! I was out and about due to having an appointment and work I had to do and it was hard trying to get through rain that literally was smashing its face in.

s_k 05-26-2011 06:27 AM

It's stormy here. Hahah, stuff is blowing away :D

Stacey. 05-26-2011 08:54 AM

It's freezing here again today, been raining literally all day, it's come sunny now, but it's still cold, but omg..the fire is lit :D

Blarobbarg 05-26-2011 08:59 AM

Well, we had a close call yesterday. Tornado watches and warnings all day, but they steadily pushed the possible tornado later and later into the night. I stayed up til 4 and the most we got were some strong winds that died quickly, and lots of rain and lightning. But that's it.

I live in Louisville, Kentucky, by the way. So although I've been frighteningly close to some of these crazy tornadoes, I haven't had them hit me yet.

Unlike Alabama. I went to do relief work there a few weeks ago. The place was annihilated.

s_k 05-27-2011 04:54 AM

Yesterday's evening skies:

Very diverse :)

Today; Grey & Rain.
First rain I see since... A month or something?
It's been incredibly dry the last weeks. It's good we get some rain at last :)

Stacey. 05-27-2011 06:23 AM

Still freezing cold again today, can't take it. D:

Same here. Strange "weather diversity" last days. First, fu**ing hot. And I've suffered my first "spring-summer damages": forearms sunburnt.

But now it's pouring. I've even seen a black swan having a shower:

Figures, we're quite close, relatively speaking.
What temperature is it where you live, today?

Raust 05-27-2011 03:10 PM
