And why can I skip around and go to different scenes?

Whether you can or cannot skip around the scenes in a movie depends upon the format the video is encoded in. Occasionaly (although rarely these days) it depends upon the player you are using. Audio can overrun for several reasons. Often the audio is out of sync. Sometimes, the video stream is shorter than the audio stream (audio and video are encoded seperately). It is not a problem specific to limewire, it is common to all filesharing apps, and simply reflects the time, effort and ability that has gone into creating the movie.
