Agreed. Not the world war 3 part, but the other solution part.

just another musing...IF the US does invade iran, how do they expect to do so while being in iraq at the same time? They've got barely enough soldiers to handle (and I use that term loosely) their war in iraq, so even if they pull every last troop they have out of iraq, it's not going to be enough, because, as someone pointed out earlier, iran has a lot more resources, more people, and a more stable (again, i use that term loosely) political climate than iraq.

A nuclear energy initiative makes sense in the U.S. because we're trying to lessen our "addiction" to foreign oil, but why Iran? They have enough oil and natural gas there.

And, from what I've read at least, it doesn't appear like a war is in the near future with Iran. The big nations involved (excluding the US and Britain) have already made it clear that they don't want to use force, and with the current climate surrounding the Iraq situation, I don't think it's gonna happen...at least not right now. Also, I'm optimistic because Iran are at least somewhat willing to discuss things at this point, and I think right now we're trying to pitch them the idea of having another nation supplying the nuclear fuel for them.

I don't get any of the goings on here. Will there be a World War 3 or not? And why is there still soldiers in Iraq if they captured Saddam. It all seems a bit pointless to me.

Oooo baby it's getting good today. Secret talks on Striking Iran in Progress.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...portaltop.html

Quote:
The United States government is hopeful that the military operation will be a multinational mission, but defence chiefs believe that the Bush administration is prepared to launch the attack on its own or with the assistance of Israel, if there is little international support. British military chiefs believe an attack would be limited to a series of air strikes against nuclear plants - a land assault is not being considered at the moment.
Quote:
Tactical Tomahawk cruise missiles fired from US navy ships and submarines in the Gulf would, it is believed, target Iran's air defence systems at the nuclear installations.

That would enable attacks by B2 stealth bombers equipped with eight 4,500lb enhanced BLU-28 satellite-guided bunker-busting bombs, flying from Diego Garcia, the isolated US Navy base in the Indian Ocean, RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire and Whiteman USAF base in Missouri.

It is understood that any direct British involvement in an attack would be limited but may extend to the use of the RAF's highly secret airborne early warning aircraft
