Im not science major by any stretch of the mark, but could someone explain to me how a shadow would get burned into anything. I can't figure out how an absence of light do to an eclipsing figure would have anything to do with cellular mitosis.

Furthermore, how can you possibly burn the absence of something into anything tangible.

I would have imagined that the force of the blast would have forced the burning flesh so hard into the surrounding area that it stayed there.

In that it's not the shadow then is it?

It's the actual person.

I heard by both Science and History teachers that it is the shadow of the person. Although the actual picture is a lot less shocking than I would have hoped-it just looks like a blob, I was expecting it to actually look like a person.

This photo captures the split second before the bullet enters his head.
I've seen the film footage of this on a documentary about Vietnam and it's horrific. The man executed was a Viet Con officer and said to be responsible for the deaths of 8 South Vietnamese. I think the photo is more powerful than the news reel.

This is the picture of the Falling man I told you about. I think it's the way he is falling that shocks you. It's graceful, almost as if he has accepted what will happen to him.

What was it a relative said...something like, he knew that God would catch him. If he was truly calm and accepting, then it makes a mockery of the so called faith of the sucide pilots.

I have seen other photos of different stages of his fall. Unlike the other 'jumpers' I have saw, he seems to just let himself go. The others try and control the situation, trying to keep themselves upright. He just lets himself go, knowing that he isn't in control anymore. That is what fascinates me. He knows what will happen to him and he accepts it. That is the sort of bravery that is in a real human being, not some brainwashed suicide bummer.

yeah I really have to admire that guy. it takes real bravery to not only acknowledge that there is a lot in this world that we have no control over, but accept it too. and I dont think anyone in their right mind would consider those suicide bombers brave.
