He [[gramps]] just did a job cleaning out the stuff up here in NY, said it didn't bother him, but I guess everyone has different standards, y'know.

Well, I'd think talking one on one with an expert would be better than internet.

yes...provided that "expert" actually knows what he's talking about. right-track just posted a link that outlines all the hazards of lead based paint. Funny your grandfather didn't mention any of that. I would have though an "expert" would be able to tell you more about all the ways in which lead paint can be hazardous to your health aside from "eating the paint".

On a side note, you say that everyone has different standards. When it comes to someone's health and safety, there isn't room for "different standards". There is only one standard, if it's not entirely safe, then it shouldn't be there. period.

Mama Booze 02-22-2006 01:46 PM

He did tell me the hazards, but he said...his EXACT WORDS..."yea it can be dangerous, but, you really wouldn't have to worry about it unless your kids a beaver or something."

which is wrong. Lead paint, if it's not maintained, can easily get into the surrounding soil on the property. Kid play in their backyards. Any contact with lead contaminated soil can be extremely dangerous, as small children's hand's frequently come in contact with their mouths. So in conclusion, what your grandpa told you is wrong.

Mama Booze 02-22-2006 01:51 PM

Grr.
You people are slow I swear..."UNLESS YOUR KIDS EAT IT."

Not just the wood/paint...anything that has to do eating the stuff.

This is what I love about the internet. A few people read a few pages on google & suddenly everybody is an expert and an arguement erupts over it.

Look at yourselves , you are argueing about paint for f*ck sake.

Mama Booze 02-22-2006 01:54 PM

I didn't read it on google.
& Pop doesn't own a computer....

if that wasn't directed totally at me, sorry. lol.
