Has anyone heard about the American snowboarder who lost Gold because she was being a smartarse. I don't know the name for the event but it was a snowboarding race and this lady was way out in front when she did a celebration trick, ****ed it up, and was overtaken two jumps from the finish.

Unbelievable.

ahahahaha, lindsay jacobelis. WAY ahead of the competition, and she tried to do a grab (really easy one too) at the end, to show off, f*cked it up and ate it. ahhh that was hilarious, quality TV right there.

I'm guessing the guy on the bottom would do all of the steering, since he's the one actually in contact with the sled, so does the other guy just lie there and hang on for dear life? is he there just to make it harder on the guy on the bottom? in that case, wouldn't it be a better test of the guy's athletic ability to have a really, REALLY fat guy lying on top of him instead of a skinny little muscly guy? anyone who knows anything about two man luge please help me out here, i'm actually quite curious, and this is gonna bug me know until I know the answer.

I know that I would really try hard for a fast time, I would want minimal contact of my partner's spandex clad package digging into my back

Bode Miller got dq'ed again. Weak.

And the whole Jacobellis thing, that's the whole reason I rarely pay attention the olympics, especially the winter olympics. Mainly snowboarding and such, but the US atheletes really don't take it seriously. I bet she won't lose a minute of sleep over it. But the US media is beating her up pretty bad. I thought it was humorous.

I'm pretty sure she will lose sleep over it. Of course she's going to act like it wasn't a big deal when she's on TV, who wouldn't? She's trying to save face, like anyone else in her situation would do. But come on, she's been training for this for years and years, ANY althete would be upset that they lost a gold medal because of a stupid mistake on their part.

I doubt she really cares that much.

Any world class athlete would care. ALOT. She wouldn't be as successful as she is by not caring about stuff like that. This probably isn't going to go anywhere, so i'll just say we'll agree to disagree and leave it at that.

IamAlejo 02-18-2006 09:46 PM

If you cared that much about your sport and you were winning would you try to pull a trick right before the finish line?

If you can answer that as yes, than I guess we do have to agree to disagree.

And yeah edge, the speedskating is pretty interesting. But only the shorttrack to me.
