i cant believe apollo anton ohno blew his chance at 1500m speedskating gold? he had 2nd and didnt even need to pass to make it to the finals(1st and 2nd in each heat make finals). i was so disappointed. shaun white definitely own3d the halfpipe. and singles luge was also exciting. 80mph on a sled is outrageous. and then on the mens cross-country pursuit the guy went down in the beginning, and went from like 77th to 2nd place. amazing.

to illustrate my point, here's a photo taken last season. This is Tanner Hall throwing a switch 9 over Chad's Gap. for you non skiers and boarders, Chad's Gap is the most infamous gap jump in the world. At the time of this picture it was over 120 feet in horizontal length. He hit that jump going well over 70 mph, and he was going backwards at the time. Think about that long and hard, and then tell me that doesn't take major f*cking balls.

Being able to fly on skis a long distance would surely represent the best ability to fly on skis, and ergo would be worthy of a medal, same way whoever jumps the furthest in the long jump gets the gold medal. No need for "artistic merit" at all. I'm not denying the talents of the people involved, so there's no need to challenge me to try moguls or 360's or whatever, I appreciate you have a passion for this that I don't share, but that was a bit of a pointless thing to say. If I could mogul or whatever, then I'd be out there, no doubt getting screwed over by bad judging because I'm not from a fashionable winter sports country.
