intellectual property is very much property. And besides, it's not just and idea you're stealing, it's a tangible object of worth.

I download music...and what ever I want that I can find. The internet is as much of a useful tool for rightfully listening/reading/using as it is for unrightfully attaining things.

But I do buy albums from artists I really do like, most of the time I get a couple of songs to get the feel of the band/artist and if I like them I go out and buy the album...

Games and programs depend, if I need it and don't have it (like power point or word) then I'm going to get it anyway possible, but the cheapest way always overrules the right.

about the painting, i would be pissed off because it's unique ( man, that example was built to be ripped apart ), albums, software, films, games that are on the market are not unique, they're reproductions and there's thousands of them....to use an analogy, i wouldn't be pissed off if someone stole a poster of one of my paintings

if i was a musician, and most of the musicians i listen to are fuckin loaded, i would just want to share my music with other people and would be content with the money i already made instead of worrying about getting even more rich, money isn't everything...

the tangible object is worth about 50 cents in material and about a buck more for the production and recording of data.....they're selling it for oh, i don't know, 100 times the actual worth?

i don't see record companies, software companies or musicians for that matter that are poor, if they make a good product, they'll make enough money from the people that have enough money to pay for their overpriced products.....and hey, if i was a billionaire, i would definetly buy everything in the original....but since i'm not.....

No I don't care so much about piracy on the internet. For the most part, mainstream musicians already sucker in more then enough people to buy the originals through record company advertisings, a few million people on the internet stealing is worth a lot but again it's not the end of the world for them, they're still getting big pay packs.

Little wee artists with no label might miss out a lot more financially, but if they're good, it is often counteracted with huge promotion via internet, promotion that leads to people hunting down authentic copies, copies they wouldn't be hunting for if it weren't for the internet.

Okay so it's illegal, but while it's easy pickings I'll take advantage of it. Until I earn millions of dollars to blow on authentic copies, I think I'll download. I don't even download entire albums, I just "taste test".

i go for both. usually ill just buy a cd instead of pirating it unless im making a mix. dvds and games tend to be ****ty quality when you download them, so i stick to buying or borrowing.

If it's a relatively unknown band just starting out, I'll download a few songs to see if I like them, and then buy the album if I do. Any band that's already really popular and succesfull and signed to a major record label, then I'll just dowload their songs and not bother buying the album.

Most of the bands I listen to have already broken up at this point, so there's not much point in putting more money in their pockets while they sit around all day on their lazy asses now, is there?

Or even worse, paying to feed that whore Courtney Love (or some other relative, you get the point)
