Meaning it would keep the scientists on their toes for years while we all die off.

At the moment I think it's overhyped. I don't think it will spread worldwide, theres a chance, but I think we should be capable of keeping it under control for the mean time until a cure is developed.
I agree. It's all scare mongering. Frankly, if it comes here, then we can deal with it. How are you supposed to individually stop from getting it if it actually comes? Live in caves?

If it wants me, it can come and get me, I'd rather live my life without worrying about it.

Screw that, I couldn't handle living in a country where you're to scared to look over your shoulder. But yeah it's been hyped up to hell just the SARS virus was.

Here in Canada you have a far better chance of getting "Beaver Fever" from drinking the water. SARS was a joke

Bird flu found in Scotland.
Swan tested positive.

Precautions involve a 3km deep "protection zone" and a "surveillance zone" a further 7km.

A Commission statement said: "In the protection zone, poultry must be kept indoors, movement of poultry is banned except directly to the slaughterhouse and the dispatch of meat outside the zone is forbidden except where products have undergone the controls provided for in EU food controls legislation, for example meat sourced from animals on registered farms, subject to ante and post mortem checks by vets in the slaughterhouse.

"In both the protection zone and the surveillance zone, on-farm biosecurity measures must be strengthened, hunting of wild birds is banned and disease awareness of poultry owners and their families must be carried out."
