Default Suggestions

Does anyone else get bothered by the mindless suggestion threads? I mean, if you suggest a band we should listen to then I expect you will give us suggestions on songs to try.

But im looking at Ducky's thread on the General forums on suggestions for Matisyahu (sp?) and im think, couldn't you do a little research? Most magazines will give you track to DL.

I don't know, it seems lazy to post "I've heard of this guy, tell me songs to get". In my opinion its one degree of spam.

Thoughts?

Yeah i hate that too.

Especially when it`s people in the promotions forum just saying 'go here'.

People just listing bands saying 'they`re great ..listen' annoy me too

It is a good idea. Like what Crowquill does.

agreed. the threads that say "i heard a song on the radio and it went 'whoa oh oh oh' does anyone know who its by?" annoy me too.. it seems ridiculous that we would know exactly what song they heard when they give us a line in the song that happens to be in 23049823408973408972384720394 other songs.

mosesandtherubberducky also started the "learn about new music today" thread, which i think is a very good idea. and it keeps it all to one thread.

A lot of people may not know alot about the band when they make the thread and only a tiny bit like they have 1 album and thats all. I really think we should focus on other issues and not "The proper way to make a music thread".

the "what band is this" threads, well..ill do my best to move them to the "name that tune" forum. the threads asking about certain bands (ie. suggestions for songs..etc.) can be left in the general music area i think. eventually, if not at first, they also give people other than the original poster, a look at the band.

that is why greg is currently trying to make changes to the forums to make the members happier with musicbanter. the first step to this was the creation of the games sub forum, to help clean up the lounge, as has been requested a lot lately.
