I've just come up with an arbitrary hypothesis. Maybe it's impossible to find your way out of this or that or escape this or that in a dream, not necessarily because you're scared or obsessed with something but just because when you're concentrating on going somewhere in a dream that you're spending all your time thinking of moving and not about where it is that you're going and so your brain just keeps you where you are, cause the only place it has any info on is where you currently are.
