Actually, the fungus that grows on rye bread and **** is called ergot, which yes, can be used to synthesize LSA or LSD, though that involves some pretty complex chemistry.

If you eat ergot, like the girls at the salem witch trials, you can get ergot poisoning, also known as ergotism, which results in hallucinations and psychosis.

It can also kill you.

I saw a T.V. show about that. It was pretty wierd. Their whole crop had that fungus and they blamed it on the witches.

Yeah, there used to be a lot of outbreaks and there still are occasionally, and back then they did usually get blamed on witches.
