Actually, tis isn't even recognised in the english dictionary as a word (to my knowledge), so she could actually use both, it just wouldn't sound right.

Sorry but I couldn't resist:
'tis is short for "it is", therefore saying 'tis is does not make sense. The only way it would make sense would be if you were abbreviating "this" to "tis".

I dislike my overwhelming need to correct bad spelling and grammar that I see on forums.

don't worry, I would've pointed it out at some point too. Every time I read that it annoys me, it's just an awkward sound, "tis is". GAH!

"tis" is actually a verbal abbreviation or contraction of "it is", therefore making it sensible.

if it were an abbreviation of "this", then it wouldnt make sense.

I agree with your first comment but I think you may have misunderstood me in your second comment. I meant the only way " tis is" would make sense would be if the user was abbreviating "this".

I think that makes sense
