I hate most rap. But I know it's dumb to rule it all out.
Just last night I saw a doco on Eminem, I never liked him much but I looked past the crappy beats and listened to his lyrics. The guy is amazingly clever. His later stuff more so then his early work, when he was that stereotypical c*cky rapper that just abused everything, trying to get to the top. Listening to some of his songs where he raps about the stress of popularity and controversy are incredible. Download 'The Way I Am'. Forget the fact theres nothing to the music, and listen to what he's saying, it is pure anger and its powerfully written. Even 'Lose Yourself' is well written. I now respect him. I still hate most rap for it's generic themes of woman, drugs and the general god like position they hold themselves in, but it's not all bad.
