i like the dark ales and stouts mostly.
Guinness (of course) and 1554 Brussels Style Black Ale (New Belguim Brewing) are 2 of my favorites.

honorable mentions: Fat Tire, Michelob Amber Bock, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Dos Equis Dark, Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout, Killians Irish Red.

A similar thread to this has been done before, however I'm never one to let up on the opportunity to talk about one of my favourite subjects.

So at the risk of repeating myself;

Guinness.
Murphy's Stout.
Stella Artois a.k.a. "wife - beater" or "the beater of wives" (known locally as).
Red Stripe.
Boddingtons Bitter.
Old Tom. ‘Supreme Champion Winter Beer of Britain 2005'.
8.5% and to be treated with the upmost respect!

[MERIT] 11-01-2005 01:30 PM

i enjoy a corona w/my latino frnds once in a while:beer:

Oh my GOD!!

As for Fosters bitter I'm not surprised you hated it.
The Aussies should stick to making Lager.

And they don't make very nice lager either (at least, not the stuff they ship to us).

I like Guiness (especially on free Guiness night when you win a minicooler as well), Stella, some of the locally brewed beer, John Smiths for an easy pint. If I'm out all night I'll switch to J.D & Coke, this stops me getting a hangover. If I'm in the house with mates afer a night out we might get the absynth out.

Dave

 We could easily be friends. :)
Except I would'nt ruin a good drink like J.D. by watering it down with Coke. ;)

one_more_atrocity 11-03-2005 04:31 PM

i'd probably go for something like corona, budwieser or something which i get from scotland which is called ''skullspliter''!! tis 8% and gets to work pretty fast and does exactly what it says on the bottle!!!!
or how about at a gig when you've been moshing for ages, your all hot and sweaty lol, your dehydrated, knackered and dont feel up to your best so you have a lovely pint of warm, watered down out of date carling to refreash you!!!! mmmmmm i can almost taste its sweetness!! i can not tell you how many times that has happened to me from the bars at gigs!!! but hey! you have to love it!!!

adidasss 11-03-2005 05:27 PM

you just havent found your beer of choice then adidasss, not all beer is bitter, some are actually very sweet, some are very creamy, some are very light bodied, then, yes, some are bitter..im kinda like a beer connoisseur and will try just about any beer once.

Grolsch is great, we used to use the ceramic corks as roach clips, untill they started making them out of plastic.

Speights
Canterbury Draught
Miners Draught.

Cant stand lagers.

Evan 11-05-2005 10:06 AM

Lager...

Even though I normally drink lagers (lay-ger :p: ) like Pilsner or Carlsberg, I still think a "real" beer is a stout. A nice pint of strong Irish stout! That'll put a smile on ya face! cheers mate! :)

I was looking for a good craft beer thread, because I'm into it these last few years and like having somewhere to post what I'm drinking. I'm a necromancer anyways so this'll do.

Dark Horse Brewery's Rain in Blood (blood orange pale ale) is one of my recent acquisitions, and it's music-related so surely I get double points!

Very nice citrus bite to it - and a very distinctly ORANGE flavored citrus, at that. I notice oftentimes citrus beers all have a generic lemon shandy flavor, indistinguishable from one another. Which is plenty pleasant, but a true attempt at flavor is both admirable and enjoyable. The hoppy taste is muted as well, which is always my personal preference. I'm not a fan of liquid lawn clippings.

This is not my first rodeo with this particular brewery. They're located in my home state so I've had quite a few by them and everything I've had has been fantastic. They also have some really kickass artwork on pretty much all their brews. One of these days I'll start saving cans for some functional decor purpose... until then, a picture journal works just as well.

I enjoyed reading this, Carpe - you should do beer reviews! I also dislike hoppy liquid lawn clippings.

Wish I could try this, based on your description, but I don't think it's distributed to our area (even though a local store here sells literally hundreds of craft beers with pretty cans).

The Batlord 08-04-2022 07:19 PM

Is that sponsored or should Kerry King sue?

Hey, thanks! I'm sure you have some brewery in your area that has their own hidden gem. Personally, I always try something new based off the album cover or can exclusively, and I'm always pleased with it.

This is probably sanctioned & sponsored. It's not even a knockoff reference, and their website straight up says this is a slayer beer and we sell slayer beer t shirts of it.

music_collector 08-04-2022 08:07 PM

I go for stouts first, porters second, and India pale ales third.
