All this anti-horror movie talk has gotten me down.
What are your thoughts of The Others and The Innkeepers? If you have seen them already. Ouch Pontypool hate, that's a new one. I mean I get it after your explanation but it's very rare that people hate that movie. I feel like ghost/possession type movies might be more up your alley depending on the actually reason for the haunting. If it is compelling enough.
