A few suggestions from various genres, including album suggestion:
B.B. King - Any album Pilate - Caught By The Window (like Coldplay without the repetitiveness) Pinback - Blue Screen Life O.A.R - Stories Of A Stranger (not as good as the older stuff but more accessible) Piano Magic - Disaffected (Hard to recommend an album, they're all so different) G. Love & Special Sauce - Not sure about albums, hip-hop, trip-hop ish Richard Marx - Greatest Hits (Cheesey ballads, the missus will love it) Tom Waits - Small Change Pat Metheny Group - Speaking Of Now (Jazz) Dave |

Nina Simmone, I've never know anyone to just step up and ask for her. Its usually 50 year old jazz nerds that came into the store.
Download Drive-By Truckers - Sinkhole, just because I think its their best song, and they really dereve to get their name out there, why they havn't broken the gates to the masses I have no idea. And speaking of southern rock, you should check out some My Morning Jacket.
