There you go, proof that its a great idea! I wore one of those costumes before, fundraising for WWF (the animals, not the wrestling) with me dressed as a tiger, with a big head, and a girl walking alongside me collecting money. The costume gets kids particularly excited. You just wear the costume, start dancing around in the street and all these kids go 'hey, it must be party time' and come along and start dancing around you. Surreal.

I've no idea what dip-n-dot is. Would it make a good stage costume?

Did his job involved being the victim of unprovoked attack by 14 year old boys? When I wore that costume pubescent boys would waddle up with these slightly nervous, yet deranged grins on their faces. You could tell exactly what they were there for (to torment the guy in the costume) so to solve the situation I'd attack them in a 'playful' manner, which always freaked them out sufficient that they'd go away.

when im onstage though whether indoors or outdoors, rain or shine, hot or cold, i tend to dress like this:

unless i start out in the crowd and in a drunken stupor find my way on stage

(you cant tell in this pic but thats Steve Soto (Adolescents, Agent Orange) playing bass in the background.
