By the way, when I mention blockbusters I'm not taking the piss. Local video shops are extremely sketchy with their video selections, whereas Blockbusters have that extensive 'world movie' section...which does have a slightly poncey name...
Also, they have a great selection of porn spoofs. 'Illegally Buxom Blonde', 'Interview with a Sexy Vampire', haven't seen any of them yet, but you've got to have goals in life. |

Ooh. Mine's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Or Edward Scissorhands, or.. Beetlejuice. See the pattern? All Tim Burton! I love that man.

No, I have not yet seen the Corpse Bride. But I sure as hell want to.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of my favorites also. Still Tim Burton.

Good. Tim Burton is a good choice. Consistent craziness. There were some bits in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which left me a bit dazed and confused, probably because I thought that as he had to follow an already well-known story he'd stick more to the plot and it would end up being a bit more sane than his other movies. Did he do that? Not a bit of it! It was the most perplexing cinema experience I've had in a long, long time, possibly ever.
Bizarre. Yes. Genius? Yes too! For crazy storytelling the Coen brothers are also good. 'O Brother Where Art Thou' is brilliant - of course those convicts know how to sing! Why wouldn't they! |
