Default What does it take to run a successful forum

Hello everyone,

I'm sure many of you have visited or even participated in maintaining online forums. Since I'm considering starting my own, it would be great to here from you.

So what are your top 3 qualities that a forum needs to have in order to be successful?

I have no experience but these are my ideas:

1. It needs to be eye catching.

There is no use to start a forum when nobody is going to notice it.

2. It needs to spark the intrest of users to post interesting threads.

When your users are on fire and post alot, that really gets things going.

3. It needs time to grow.

Whatever you do, it is no good if you don't have the time to make it work.

If you want to share your ideas or comment on my points it would be appreciated.

Cheers
